The Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center hosted a distinguished visit from Ray Dalio on September 3, 2024, during an event titled “Exclusive Discussion with Mr. Ray Dalio: Indonesia-Ocean X Expedition 2024.” This special occasion brought together notable figures, including Mochammad Firman Hidayat, Deputy Minister for Maritime Resources of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia; H.E. Professor Honoris Causa Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, M.P.A., Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment; and Pramoda Dei Sudarmo, MBA., MPA., Special Staff on Competency and Management at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
In addition to discussions surrounding the Ocean X vessel’s groundbreaking expedition, the session featured insights from Meizani Irmadhiany, Senior Vice President and Executive Chair of Konservasi Indonesia, and Achmad Sahri, Senior Researcher at the Oceanography Research Center, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Indonesia. The event concluded with an inspiring presentation by a university student from the Bandung Institute of Technology, a representative of the Young Explorer Program, who shared their firsthand experiences participating in the Ocean X expedition.
