
The Global Innovation & Future Technology Summit (GIFTS) 2024, held on November 14-15 at the UGM Innovation and Creativity Building (GIK), brought together nearly 150 participants in a hybrid format to explore innovation across STREAM fields (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Hosted by Tsinghua University, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and the National University of Singapore (NUS), the event featured inspiring talks, including an opening speech by Dean Wang Xiaoxiao of Tsinghua University and a panel on “Technology Commercialization” led by Prof. Edward F. Crawley.
The summit also featured an interactive session on integrating creativity and entrepreneurship, led by Prof. Mats Hanson and Dessy Aliandrina, fostering discussions on bridging the gap between academia and industry. A closing networking session, moderated by Michael Tuori, encouraged dialogue on transforming universities into hubs of innovation and entrepreneurship. Through dynamic discussions and cross-disciplinary collaboration, the event successfully facilitated knowledge exchange and future partnerships, strengthening the connection between academia and industry.
