Director of Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center (TSEA) and Dean of the School of Continued Education, Wang Xiaoxiao, arrived in Bali on November 11, 2024, marking her first visit to TSEA. Dean Wang’s visit began with an immersive tour of Kura-Kura Island, home to the UID Bali Campus and the headquarters of TSEA. She was captivated by the island’s unique blend of culture and modernity, including the remarkable bamboo architecture of the iconic Three Mountains and the serene coastal beauty at Surf-Surf By The Wave.
Upon arriving at the UID Bali Campus, Dean Wang was warmly welcomed by TSEA’s local staff, who guided her on a detailed campus tour. She was particularly impressed by the campus’s dedication to sustainability, with eco-friendly materials used throughout the facilities and visible elements that reinforce the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The tech-enabled rooms and modern classrooms caught her attention as ideal spaces for future events, conferences, and programs, making the campus a dynamic hub for Tsinghua University’s extended engagements in the region.
Later, Dean Wang met with TSEA faculty members, Professor Ed Crawley and Professor Mats Hanson, to discuss collaborative strategies for elevating TSEA’s impact and potential. The day concluded with a memorable dinner with the Tsinghua and TSEA teams, celebrating the spirit of partnership and shared vision for TSEA’s future in Southeast Asia.
