About the Conference

2025 marks the launching of The Conference on Indigenous Wisdom in the Contemporary World, an annual conference dedicated to exploring diverse indigenous wisdom traditions from around the world and their relevance to today’s society. The theme of the inaugural conference is Tri Hita Karana and Sustainability, examining Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese philosophy of harmony between people, nature, and the divine, and its applications in modern contexts. Future conferences will delve into different indigenous knowledge systems, fostering cross-cultural dialogue, and uncovering how traditional wisdom can offer sustainable solutions for contemporary global challenges.

Originality/Novelty – Emphasize what makes your research unique or different from existing studies in the field.
Value/Contribution – Explain the importance and implications of your findings and how they contribute to the field or society.

Jurnal Kajian Bali (Journal of Bali Studies) is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the study of Bali from various disciplinary perspectives. First published in April 2011 by the Center for Balinese Studies, University of Udayana, the journal has undergone several developments, including changes in its publishing institutions and editorial format. Since April 2020, Jurnal Kajian Bali has been published by the Center for Cultural Research and the Center of Tourism Excellence, University of Udayana, following the university’s research center reorganization.

In recognition of its scholarly contributions, Jurnal Kajian Bali was indexed by Scopus on December 9, 2023, with coverage starting from 2019. This achievement also led to its elevation from Sinta-2 to Sinta-1 accreditation for editions from Volume 13, Issue 2 (2023) through 2028, as per the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Number 72/E/KPT/2024), issued on April 1, 2024.

Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Udayana

Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (Faculty of Humanities) is the oldest faculty at Universitas Udayana, established even before the university itself was founded. When it was inaugurated by President Sukarno on September 29, 1958, it was originally known as the Faculty of Literature and was part of Airlangga University, East Java. After the establishment of three additional faculties, the government officially founded Udayana University on August 17, 1962. 

The Faculty of Literature later became one of the founding faculties of Udayana University and underwent several name changes before becoming what is now known as the Faculty of Humanities. The faculty currently offers 12 study programs, including Balinese Literature, Old Javanese Literature, Indonesian Literature, English Literature, and Japanese Literature, as well as Archaeology, Anthropology, and History. Additionally, it provides two master’s programs (Master in Linguistics and Master in Cultural Studies) and two doctoral programs (Doctorate in Linguistics and Doctorate in Cultural Studies).
