The Tsinghua Model United Nations (TMUN) 2026 Conference successfully brought together outstanding young leaders from across Asia and beyond in a dynamic forum dedicated to advancing dialogue, collaboration, and youth-led solutions on global issues. Held from July 14 to 16, 2026, the conference served as a platform for cultivating global competence and strengthening cross-cultural understanding among the next generation of changemakers. The conference was hosted by the Cyrus Tang Center for Student Global Development, Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center, and Zijing College of Tsinghua University, with support from prominent institutions including the Asian Universities Alliance and the National Institute of UNESCO Studies. These institutions collectively emphasized the importance of nurturing globally minded youth capable of addressing shared international challenges through cooperation and innovation. The opening ceremony featured distinguished speakers who provided strategic insights into global development and governance. Among them were Professor Benfeng Bai, Vice President of Tsinghua University; Maki Katsuno-Hayashikawa, Director and Representative of the UNESCO Regional Office to ASEAN; Li Zhang, Dean of Zijing College; and Hing Fai Tseng, Director of the Tseng Hin-pei Charitable Fund. Their remarks underscored the importance of education, multilateral collaboration, and youth engagement in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable global future.
Throughout the three-day program, participants engaged in a series of lectures, discussions, and simulation sessions designed to deepen their understanding of global governance. Key topics included urban development and quality of life, the role of UNESCO in global education, and emerging challenges in international security, particularly in the context of artificial intelligence. These sessions provided both theoretical grounding and practical perspectives, equipping delegates with the tools to analyze complex global issues.
A central component of the conference was its structured Model United Nations sessions, where participants simulated international negotiations and deliberated on pressing global concerns.
