27 January 2026 – Tsinghua SEA, Bali

As part of Tsinghua University’s SiYuan Programme, a group of outstanding students embarked on an immersive learning journey across Southeast Asia, with visits to Singapore and Indonesia. Designed as an international social program, the initiative brings learning beyond the classroom, allowing students to engage directly with the region’s economic, social, and cultural realities while exploring pathways toward sustainable development.
Throughout the program, students combined academic inquiry with field-based experiences. By interacting with enterprises, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local communities, participants gained first-hand insights into how economic models, policy frameworks, and cultural contexts shape development in Southeast Asia. These encounters transformed abstract theories into tangible realities, encouraging students to reflect critically on sustainability practices and socio-economic challenges within emerging economies.

A key highlight of the program was the visit to the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center (TSEA) at the United in Diversity Bali Campus (UIDBC). Serving as an important academic and institutional component, the visit offered students a closer look at Tsinghua University’s regional engagement. Through discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, participants learned how TSEA acts as a platform connecting academia, industry, and policymakers to foster leadership development, sustainable innovation, and inclusive growth across Southeast Asia.
This experience reinforced the program’s core objective of linking theory with practice. By engaging directly with the Regional Department of the Environment and Forestry, the students get a holistic view of the intersection of policy, industry and environmental issues . Students developed a deeper appreciation of how collaborative efforts can address real-world challenges and support long-term sustainable development.

Ultimately, the SiYuan Programme aims to cultivate socially responsible future leaders. Through exposure to international business environments, public policy discussions, and cross-cultural settings, students strengthened their global perspectives, analytical thinking, and practical research skills. The program leaves participants with a richer understanding of Southeast Asia’s diverse landscapes and equips them with the insight and responsibility needed to contribute meaningfully to an interconnected and evolving world.
