22 October 2025 – Tsinghua SEA, Bali
The Roundtable Forum: Sustainability Goes Local – Empowering Community Development was successfully held today at the Saraswati Room, Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center, located within the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Co-organized by the Tsinghua–Nike Sustainability Fellowship, Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center, and Udayana University, the forum served as a collaborative platform for sustainable enterprises, academics, and community leaders to explore how global sustainability visions can be effectively translated into local action.
The event opened with a series of immersive activities that introduced participants to Bali’s environmental and cultural context, including an Island Tour around Kura Kura Bali SEZ, a Campus and Museum Tour. These experiences set the stage for a day of meaningful dialogue and exchange.
The formal program began with the Opening Remark from the representative of the organizing institutions, followed by two Keynote Speeches addressing the intersection of global sustainability strategies and community-driven innovation. The discussions continued through two Panel Sessions that highlighted successful case studies of local empowerment, sustainable enterprise, and environmental stewardship.
After a tea break, the forum resumed with the participants sharing insights and reflect on practical pathways for collaboration. The day concluded with a summary session, a group photo, and a project showcase, where selected sustainability initiatives demonstrated innovative approaches to empowering communities through local action.
By bringing together international thought leaders and local change-makers, the Roundtable Forum reaffirmed the importance of bridging global perspectives with local realities to achieve sustainable development that is both inclusive and impactful.
